What we accept and what we cannot take
We accept natural hair of 30 cm or more, with no colouring, bleaching or chemical straightening, cut as a tied ponytail. Coloured hair can be accepted, but is worth substantially less.
Minimum length
Thirty centimetres, measured from the nape to the tip, on dry hair. Below that there is no use for it: you cannot make an extension or a wig that will last.
Is coloured hair worth anything?
It is, but markedly less. Colouring — and bleaching above all — opens the cuticle. The result has less shine, more frizz and a much shorter life once fitted. We look at each case and tell you plainly whether it is worth cutting.
Straightening and relaxing
We cannot take it. Chemical straightening changes the internal structure of the fibre permanently, and the hair never behaves predictably again.
What about grey hairs?
It depends on the proportion. Up to around ten per cent is not a problem. Above that it becomes hard to use, because the colour stops being even.
Does it have to be tied before cutting?
Yes, and this matters more than anything else on this page. The hair must be tied before it is cut and kept with all the tips facing the same way. Hair cut loose loses almost all its value, and the mistake cannot be undone.
